Don’t let scholarships become meaningless!
Did you know that in most states, it’s legal for a college to reduce a student’s financial aid package if they receive an outside scholarship?
In fact, this practice—known as scholarship displacement—is legal in every single state except for Maryland, which banned it in July. Everywhere else, students still risk receiving scholarships, only to see their aid money get cut by the same amount.
This greedy policy is deeply unfair to students, and renders a scholarship virtually meaningless. Let’s put a stop to it: tell your reps to support a bill banning scholarship displacement in your state!
Don’t let colleges invalidate scholarships.
